Finding meaningful literacy centers that are engaging can be challenging. We have created this set focused on reindeer & moose in order to provide a high interest set of centers that are appropriate for second and third grade students.

Moose & Reindeer Photos for Display
Fact/Opinion Sort – Students learn about moose and reindeer while also learning about the difference between fact & opinion. Graphic organizer also provided for quick assessment.
Vocabulary Words – Fifteen vocabulary words associated with moose & reindeer. (Also includes blank template for additional words you may want to include.) Four simple vocabulary task cards can be used to help students practice reading and understanding the vocabulary words.
Compare & Contrast Organizer
Fluency Sentence Cards – Students can practice their fluency skills while learning about reindeer and moose.
Recalling Facts Organizers – Four graphic organizers for students to use as they recall the facts they learned about reindeer and moose. The first two organizers deal specifically with a moose’s diet and a reindeer’s habitat. The second two organizers ask students to think about what they have learned about the animals, choose which they think is the best of the two and provide reasons for their choice.
Various Organizers & Resources – For these organizers, you can place a basket of informational text books focused on reindeer and/or moose in a basket at a literacy center. There are various pages for students to use along with a book they choose. Along with those, there is also a flip booklet that can be glued into an interactive notebook if desired, as well as a blank book students can use as a template to share their learning about these animals. We suggest that you model these resources during mini-lessons first so that students know your expectations.
