We have been waiting a month for our second Stitch Fix to arrive – it feels a little bit like Christmas when that box appears on your doorstep!
If you aren’t familiar with Stitch Fix, it is a subscription service that sends you five clothing or accessory items that are chosen to fit your style. You fill out a style profile that includes your exact sizes, styles you like and any specifics you think tell about how you like to dress. You are then matched with a stylist and the stylist begins to work her magic!
For a $20 styling fee, you are sent five items selected just for you. You receive them in the mail and it feels like your birthday! You choose which items you love and want to keep and those items you would like to send back. They make it easy to send back – simply put the items you don’t like in the preaddressed envelope and drop it in the mail.
We are so excited to share our second Stitch Fix with you – we both found a couple of pieces we had to keep!
Cathy’s Second Stitch Fix
Since I am more of a clothes person than Jill, I was probably a little more excited than her! My first thought when opening my box was that it was not quite as colorful as I would like. Lots of navy and black and no pops of bright color. If you know me, you know I love color. This was a little disappointing but I still wanted to give all of the clothes a try to see if I could find something I love. It turns out, my stylist didn’t do as poorly as I thought at first glance.
The first shirt in the picture below was a keeper. I love the open lace detail on the back and the black and cream print is fun. I ran out to Old Navy to buy a pair of mustard yellow Pixie pants and it makes for a great fall outfit once a cardi is added.
The second blue cardigan has pretty lace details but I decided to send it back. I liked it but didn’t need it.
The navy floral top was pretty but not me.
They included a cowl neck sweater I thought I would love but was stuck before trying it on because the colors and weave of the sweater were so similar to a cardigan I received in my last Stitch Fix. However, once I put it on, I didn’t love how it fit so it made it easy to send back!
The final item in my box I was sure I would be sending back. It was a dress that was pretty but I didn’t think I could justify the cost. Then I put it on and it fit so perfectly…
So my definite no jumped to a yes and I ended up with two new items in my closet.
Jill’s Second Stitch Fix
For this Fix, I had requested a new dress for my nephew’s wedding in October. In my style profile I have that having my legs covered is a must and after I received my box I worried that I needed to be much more specific about this request. Here’s what I found when I opened my Fix:
My first impression was that there were such pretty colors and patterns but my concern was the dress length. I could tell from looking that they would be just too short.
I did try on all three dresses. I liked parts of each one. The red dress had pretty lace details. The blue and black had a pretty neckline and the waist was perfect. The black and white had sleeves that were the perfect length. Still, none of them fit my requirement of being full length so they were all sent back. Close but not quite right!
The green, sheer shirt is definitely my style! Everything about it is perfect and it fits very well. This shirt I am keeping.
My first impression of the shoes was that they are cute but not my style and not shoes I would be able to walk in. I’m glad I gave them a try because the heels were not quite as tall as they appeared. The shoes were more comfortable than I expected and I fell in love with the look.
