Duck© Tape Interactive Ocean Bulletin Board

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand® for IZEA Worldwide. All opinions are 100% mine.

We’ve partnered with Duck© Brand to share an interactive ocean bulletin board we created for your classrooms!

Interactive Ocean Bulletin Board

Truth time.  As teachers, how many of you walk down the office supply or craft aisles in stores JUST to look at all the organizational and creative supplies?  We still do it and we don’t even have our own classrooms any more! Once a teacher, always a teacher.

Seems like we always get inspired just by taking a look at all the new and fun items in these aisles.  And we are also going to bet that when you see fun new products, many of you pick them up and start coming up with ideas for possible projects…just like we do.

That is why we were so excited when we were approached to work with Duck® brand duct tape.  The possibilities for their products and cool designs in classrooms are endless.

We were sent some rolls of Color Duck Tape® and Printed Duck Tape® that gave us a water “vibe” so we immediately got started thinking about some type of interactive bulletin board centering on oceans.

The great thing about duct tape is that you can easily create your bulletin board on so many different surfaces. You don’t have to have a “designated” bulletin board to create something for your students to interact with.  Think about using white boards or chalk boards, walls, cabinets, the front of your teacher desk or even the inside of your own classroom door.

Duck Tape is perfect to use for borders on a bulletin board because of the many fun designs and colors.  You can also change it out quickly and easily when you decide you want to change the theme or color scheme of your bulletin board.  The tape is also perfect for attaching various items to your bulletin board in a cohesive and visually appealing way.

The interactive science set we have created for you contains a quote poster, eight ocean themed multiple choice questions for students to ponder (along with the corresponding answer cards) and a quick response page for students to write on.  Once everything is printed in color and laminated, here is how you create your ocean bulletin board:

  1. Use the Duck Tape to create a border on the surface you have chosen.  (To make sure the resources we made fit well, you probably don’t want a space any smaller than 4 feet x 2 1/2 feet.)
  2. Attach the quote poster in the center and/or top of the bulletin board.  If you want, use your Duck Tape and create a smaller border by cutting the length of your pieces in half.
  3. Attach the student quick response page underneath the quote poster at a level that is convenient for all students to write on.
  4. Use a coordinating color of Duck Tape to attach a string (approx. 12 inches long) to a dry erase marker. Then use another piece of tape to attach the end of the string just above the student quick response page.Interactive Ocean Bulletin Board 4
  5. Next, cut the question and answer cards in half and make a plan for where you would like these placed surrounding your quote and response page.
  6. Use a piece of Duck Tape to create your fold over quiz cards. Stack the question card on top of the answer. Then, use a piece of tape. You will fold the piece of tape over the top to attach the cards and make it so students can flip up the question to view the answer.

Leave your bulletin board up until all students have had a chance to check out the questions and write an answer on the quick response card.  Then facilitate a class discussion surrounding the questions and responses the students wrote.  This could be a great anticipatory set for an upcoming unit or even the ending to the unit to begin sharing all that students have learned.

What’s even better about using Duck Tape is that you can change this bulletin board so easily and put up another one.  And you don’t need to stick with a science topic.  You can put up quotes, questions and quick response pages that go with literature or social studies as well.

You might even think about putting up some math multiple choice questions and a problem solving page for the quick response, along with a quote from a famous mathematician.   You could even let the styles and designs of Duck Tape be your inspiration for topics!

You will find all the pages for this interactive ocean bulletin board set here:
