She has created a great collection of activities to accompany your classroom study of The Mitten by Jan Brett. Stop by her blog and thank her for providing these amazing resources!
You will find the collection of activities here: The Mitten activities from I Dream of First Grade
I am currently teaching first grade at General Greene Elementary in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have taught for 27 years! I am a National Board Certified Teacher. I am also a blogger. I am a mom to two daughters, Emily and Olivia and my husband, Mark, is a teacher as well. I love to read and make time for reading each day.
Here is a little about what Sarah is sharing with us….
I have created several activities for the readers of The Curriculum Corner to use with the story “The Mitten”. All of the activities meet common core standards. They are ready for you to print to use in your classroom!
The children in my class love to play math games. I have created a “Bump It” style math game using ten frames. You will need three dice and markers. I have also included a Grab Bag Graph Game and recording sheet.
I love to teach writing in my classroom. It thrills me to see the progress my students make during the year. The first activity uses a Venn Diagram to compare two characters from the story. The next activity asks the students to describe the characters using three adjectives. After describing the characters the students pick one character to describe using the adjectives. I hope you all enjoy all of these activities. Please stop by my blog www.idreamoffirstgrade.blogspot.com and say “Hello!”
