Students do need to be able to read some words to work through these activities.<\/p>\n<p>These centers are designed to give syllable practice. They have not been designed to teach the skill.<\/p>\n<p>Use these to reinforce what you have already taught.<\/p>\n<p>We suggest printing the collection in color on card stock and laminating for durability.<\/p>\n<p>As always, these resources have been created for free classroom use. They may be printed and copied for your classroom. Each card contains a word and coordinating picture. There are also three category labels saying 1 syllable, 2 syllables and 3 syllables. After laminating, cut all of the cards apart. Students will then practice sorting the cards into the correct category.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Recording Page<\/span><\/strong> This page can be used with the syllable sort above. If you need to have a record of student work at centers, they can record the words after sorting the cards.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Syllable Game<\/span><\/strong>&nbsp; To play this game, students will need a marker and a coin. The first player flips the coin and moves ahead. Play continues until the first player reaches the You win! spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">Practice Page<\/span><\/strong> This printable practice page asked students to identify the number of syllables in each word.
