When she gets there, she finds the store is closed. She decides to travel the country to gather the resources she needs. If you do some more in depth work with the book, please share any of your ideas below!<\/p>\n<p>As a fun wrap up you might even choose to make a cherry pie with your class.<\/p>\n<p>Another extension ideas is to have your students write their own book where a child travels around the U.S.A. to make something.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">How to Make a Cherry Pie and See the U.S.A. Collection<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Task Cards<\/span><\/strong> The first part of this collection is a set of task cards. These are designed to accompany many of the printables we have created. They will be the directions you place at each center for your students to use as a reminder. There are eight task cards.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Story Maps<\/strong> <\/span>There are two of these so you can choose which fits your students best.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Flip Book<\/span><\/strong> This flip book is designed to go in an interactive notebook. Students cut the outside shape and then cut on the dotted lines. They will lift the flaps and write about the main character, problem and solution under the flaps. On top they will draw a picture to show each.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Sequencing Sentences<\/span><\/strong> These cards have the most important events from the book. Students can use the book to help them place the events in the correct order. You might also have students use these cards for fluency work.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Syllable Sort&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong> Students will sort the word cards to practice identifying syllables. They will sort the cards. You can have students record their answers on the recording page if desired.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Writing Prompts<\/span> <\/strong>There are three different writing prompts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Other Resources<\/span> <\/strong>A few other resources such as making a practice route across the United States and a visualizing page are included.
