For today, we are focusing on basic facts. Our factors will be between 1 and 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#d71095\">Second: How can I Introduce the skill of missing factors?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If this is a new skill for students, you might use a multiplication chart to help students understand the concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to use manipulatives for your introduction, pull out your counters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Give students a number to count out. We will use 24 for our example. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, give students the first factor in the multiplication fact. For this example we will use 6. Students will then form 6 groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, ask students how many groups of 6 they were able to make. They will then record the card number and missing addend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might also choose to use these cards to play a scoot game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#dd2185\">Why do we like using scoot games in the classroom?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Scoot games can be a great way to get students up and moving while reviewing a basic skill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Working movement into your day can help your students stay engaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-text-color has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\" style=\"color:#e427a5\">How do you play a game of scoot?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Set up the game by placing a card at each seat in the classroom.<\/li><li>Each student gets a recording page.<\/li><li>Students start at their spot.<\/li><li>When you say scoot, students rotate to the next spot. (Make sure you tell students ahead of time the direction they will be moving.)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#28c9e6\" class=\"has-text-color has-background has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size has-very-light-gray-color\">Want to get your kids moving but need to use these cards as a center activity?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of playing as a scoot game you might choose to create a scavenger hunt.
