They might also be used in small groups where each group is given a different problem to solve.<\/p>\n<p>These cards are designed to provide practice for students who have been taught the skills of finding area and perimeter. They are not designed to teach. It is important to make sure students have an understanding of the skills before asking them to complete any of the task cards.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">We have broken these area &amp; perimeter task cards into three levels below:<\/h3>\n<p>The first eight word problems are fairly straight forward types of story problems calling for students to think about real-world type situations in which they may need to calculate area or perimeter.<\/p>\n<p>Task cards #9 &ndash; #16 require students to draw shapes meeting certain area or perimeter stipulations. &nbsp;These are more open-ended tasks because the shapes students draw can all look very different.<\/p>\n<p>The final four tasks are more challenging problems that will require students to use various problem solving strategies that include drawing pictures, using logical reasoning and guess and check.
