The intent is not that you will use all of the slides in one day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the first day you might use the &ldquo;What is the theme?&rdquo; slide as starting point and then the definition slide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are other slides that share key questions children will think about when identifying the theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a slide that focuses on the differences between the main idea and theme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, there are five short passages. After reading each, students will identify the theme and the main idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important for students to remember that there could be more than one correct response when identifying the theme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While I was visualizing using these as slides, it would also be possible to print them and place as cards at a center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally,, you will find an assortment of graphic organizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These can be used for students to share their thoughts about the theme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three pages that are designed to be cut apart and used as exit tickets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One fun addition I made to this set is the focus on a hashtag.
