It is designed to include the most important names and events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This booklet begins at the time when King Tarquin the Proud was overthrown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It touches on conflicts between the plebeians and patricians. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a quick summary of major wars along with key leaders, specifically Julius Caesar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was a section we needed to cover quickly in my classroom but this booklet resulted in some good discussions. For topics students were most curious about, I found short clips on YouTube to add more to our discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using this booklet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Print the booklet and give students the set of three pages. I encouraged my students to complete the booklet before they cut and stapled. This allowed them access to the word bank at the bottom of the page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To complete the work, students will fill in the blanks. There is a word bank provided at the bottom of each page. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some responses, students will be able to determine the answers that make sense on their own. For others, they will need to do a little research. I encouraged my own students to complete the spots that were easy to figure out first and then move on to the ones that required research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one place many got stuck was the section that mentioned Hannibal and war elephants. I had taught them to ask themselves if the answer made sense and for that one, it did not! This did result in students researching on their own to learn a little more about the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once they finish, they will cut out the pages. I found that it helped my students to have a completed example of the finished, stapled booklet. Without it, many were cutting off parts that should stay in place.
