Yooralla Enterprise Agreement

BreastScreen Victoria has proposed a number of changes to the proposed enterprise agreement, some positive, many negative. They also accepted some VAHPA applications, but not most of them. Recently, they have put on the table an offer of wages, although this unfortunately provides for wage increases of less than 2% per year. HaCSU will meet with Yooralla this week to discuss negotiations on the two agreements and will also meet with hosting services to discuss options and measures to move the Negotiations forward under the Fair Work Act. Last week, haCSU met with Annecto delegates and members to discuss the renegotiation of the Annecto Agreement, which expires in 2007. In preparation, HACSU will follow members` themes regarding overtime and employment contracts. The parties last met in July to negotiate the Yooralla general agreement and were due to meet again in August, before Yooralla postponed the meeting by preparing further information on their financial situation and salary offer. No further meetings are scheduled to date. HACSU is aware that our members are frustrated by the lack of progress in the negotiations, and today we wrote Yooralla CEO Sanjib Roy recommending that HACSU be able to look for formal ways to move the negotiations forward in accordance with the fair work act. Jeremy Duggan, VAHPA delegate, said: “The feedback on the offer has been very positive. Members felt that previous agreements had been rushed without addressing many important issues such as professional development. During the conflict, more than 90 union members signed the majority`s petition in support of a new agreement, and membership of the AEU increased by 40%.

The Fair Work Commission can also help employers and workers who are embarking on the “New Approaches” program. Learn more about the new approaches on the Fair Labour Commission website. The only way to get Community employers in the health sector to negotiate individual agreements is to ask the Fair Labour Commission for a decision called majority support. This requires the majority of affected employees to sign a workplace petition stating that they want to negotiate for a single operating contract. Enterprise bargaining allows us to set decent labour standards for workers in the area of disability assistance.
