Popcorn Bar

Popcorn Bar by The Curriculum CornerIt’s hard to believe my oldest is turning 10 this week!  I keep telling Doug that 10 is half-way to 20.  He doesn’t seem to be as upset at this as I am.  This weekend we had a family party for Grant who is the pickiest of eaters.  We have had too many parties to count where pasta has been served as it is one of Grant’s favorite foods.  This year I was determined to find something a little different so I started thinking of other foods Grant likes.  As we talked, we landed on a popcorn bar.  My friends had thrown me a sprinkle before Paige was born with a Ready to Pop theme.  They created a super cute popcorn bar.  For Grant’s party, we didn’t get quite as fancy as my friends did.  We kept it simple with some of Grant’s favorite candies and paper bags for serving.  The idea worked great because Grant could help me set it up.  For the bags, I just bought red lunch bags at Target and cut the top third of the bag off.  I also found little Chinese boxes at Target which I thought would be perfect for party favors.  Guests received a box and got to fill the box with popcorn and their favorite toppings before leaving.  The popcorn bar was perfect – easy set up and super easy clean up.

Are there other foods you have served at your parties that are a little different?

This is a great idea! I’m going to do the same for my grandchildren!
