Thanksgiving Activities for Early Learning Classrooms

Thanksgiving Activities for Early Learning Classrooms by The Kinder Corner

How do you celebrate Thanksgiving with your students?  We would love you to share your ideas below.  If you try out any of the activities we have suggested here, we would love for you to share your pictures!

Thanksgiving memories made for their families by young children can be something parents treasure for a long time.  Because of this, we have created an assortment of activities that you can use with your younger children.  Many of them include a spot for a photo and have a place where the child can write (or you can write for them if they are too young.)

Little Turkey  Print in color and add a photo of a child’s face to the center.  These little turkeys will make a cute classroom decoration before you send them home.

Thankful for You  As the teacher, you spend a great deal of time with the children.  Parents love to hear why you appreciate their child.  On this colorful paper, fill in what you love about their child.  Add a picture and send home.  Parents then record what they are thankful for about their child.  These can become a wonderful keepsake!

A Thankful Turkey  Send home our turkey feather outline.  Parents decorate to show why they love their child.  Cut out a brown turkey shape from construction paper and add the feathers as parents return them to school.  This makes a great display for families to see as they enter the building.

My Family  Children draw a picture of their family and then give a reason they have to be thankful.  Again, you may need to write for younger children.
