These Fry words practice pages include two different printable page styles to give your students practice with their Fry Words.
These free Fry Word worksheets are designed to give your students sight word practice.
We are giving you two different styles of practice pages. You will be able to download the resources in sets. We have divided them by groups of 100 words.
In our primary classrooms, we were always looking for ways to reinforce basic reading and writing skills while also encouraging mastery of Fry words. These pages were created as a result of this search.
The Word Sorts will give students the opportunity to look at the Fry words more carefully, but also a chance to read & write them an extra time.
You might want to think about printing the sets of ten Fry Word Cards (link below) for each page so that students can manipulate the cards into groups before writing them on the paper.
(Each download contains ten pages with ten Fry words on each page.)
The Fry Word Fill-Ins require students to read their Fry words and then use them in the context of a real sentence. It also requires them to practice writing sentences of their own using some of the words. This is a simple reading and comprehension check, paired with an opportunity for you to see students’ sentence writing abilities.
If you are looking for yet another way to practice mastery, take a look at our Fry Word Cards & Activity Boards post.
Teachers who are tracking Fry Word progress in their classrooms, will find our Fry Word Assessment Checklists useful. If you need something to help your students track their progress, take a look at our Fry Word Self Checks.
Would there be another set of Fry Word Fill In for 501-1000, anytime in the near future?? I am a reading specialist for my school and I would like more Fill-in passages for the upper grade students who have not yet mastered reading. I would really appreciate it.
Hi Timmie,
We will be updating some of our Fry Word Resources this summer and adding to them. We weren’t sure if teachers used the extra resources much past 500, but we will take a look and see if we can add some more Fill-Ins this summer. 🙂
I have been using some of these worksheets with my adult ESL students, and I think they’re great! Thank you! I would love to see some of them for words 501-1000 as well 🙂
I second that. Activity pages and lists beyond 500 would be great and very useful. Thank you thus far for all of these wonderful resources.
