Counting Money Activities Set 2

We’ve collected an assortment of counting money games and activities to help you give your students money counting practice in the classroom.

We have created a collection of free counting money games to provide your students with free money counting practice.

This set of free activities for money practice is designed to reinforce the skills you have already taught in the classroom.

Often, even students who are not new to counting coins can use the extra practice.

These games we have created can be used at a small group or morning center. There is also a game included that is simple to set up and provides exit practice.

The Scoot and Grab & Count activities include free downloads in the descriptions below. You will not need printables for the other games described below.

Scoot  This money activity gets your kids up and moving.  Begin by printing these SCOOT CARDS in color, laminating and cutting apart.  Then, copy a SCOOT RECORDING PAGE for each student.  Place a card at each student’s seat.  The students solve their problem, record the answer and wait for you to say “Scoot!”  All of the students then rotate to the next spot.  Continue until students have gone to each spot.

Stamp it Out  Fold a sheet of white paper into fourths.  Write an amount on each square.  Students must use money stamps to create each amount.

Race to \$1.00  Pairs or groups of three students need to dice.  The first student rolls the dice and takes that amount of money.  For example, if a student rolls 11, he or she takes 11¢.  Students continue taking turns.  On each roll, students add to their collection.  When they can, they trade up coins.  If the student who rolled 11¢ rolls 12 next, the student would have two dimes and three pennies.  The goal of the game is to get 4 quarters.

Pay to Leave  Put a cup of coins in the center of each table/group in your classroom.  When it is time to line up, give students an amount.  Each student must count out that amount to “pay” to leave the classroom.

Grab & Count   Put an assortment of coins in a small bucket or cup.  Students grab a small handful of coins.  They must draw their coins and then find the value.

We also have an assortment of other free money counting games and activities which you can find below:
