We are looking to create new resources that can serve multiple purposes. Our goal is to find printables that can be useful in your classroom but might also be helpful to parents at home right now.
These pages are designed to be an engaging and creative outlet for students.
When creating, we looked to include a variety of activities children will enjoy.
The Inspiration
Last week I attended a virtual conference that made me stop and think about ways to help families. The presenter emphasized that right now our job is not to teach parents how to become teachers. Instead, we want to help parents keep their children ready to learn.
Activities such as mazes and word searches might help with this task.
Encouraging children to talk about words can be another idea. We have included this idea on the mats but you might also choose to suggest to your parents that they try to go on a walk and make different lists as they talk – not necessarily written. Families could make a unique list of colors they see, sounds they hear or other sights they encounter.
Think about other ways you could encourage your families to work together in ways to help work on language, speaking and simply reading together.
Our Morning Mats
You will find an assortment of mazes.
Word searches and Boggle like word games are included.
Children will have the opportunity to make lists of words.
Also included are coloring spots. Students can doodle in the open spaces.
