Creating your synonym matching cards

Setting this resource up is simple.

First, print the pages you choose on white card stock or colorful paper.

You will then want to laminate the pages for durability.

After cutting apart, you can store your cards in a container or baggie.

How to use these synonym matching cards

These matching cards can be used in a variety of ways.

One of the great things about them is that you can use this one set for many different activities.

Because the download includes so many cards, be sure to provide your students with a workable number of cards. While some students might enjoy the challenge of matching all 45 pages, many will work best with 10 to 15 pairs.

Here are a few of our ideas:

  1. Provide students with pairs. Students will match the pairs.
  2. Give students a set of cards that are not pairs. Have students list a synonym or two for each word.
  3. Have students choose a synonym pair. They can then illustrate each word to show the difference.
  4. Again, have students choose a synonym pair. Instead of drawing, they can act out each word.

How else will you use these matching cards? We’d love to hear your suggestions. add them in the comments below.
