These math sports games and sports literacy centers are meant to be an engaging way for your students to practice math & literacy skills.

This set of math & literacy center practice activities might be just what you need to add a bit of themed fun into your math and reading plans.

FREE Sports Math & Literacy Centers from The Curriculum Corner 2

The following math activities are included:

  • Sprint to the Finish – Addition, Subtraction & Multiplication Game Boards
  • Soccer Ball & Baseball Multiplication Bump – 2 Game Boards (for different types of number cubes)
  • Football Four in a Row – Addition & Multiplication Versions
  • Shoot to the Top -Addition Game
  • How Do You Measure Up? – Use the picture pages provided with inch/cm rulers OR bring in REAL sports equipment and use larger measurement tools!

The following literacy activities are included:

  • Fry Word Game Boards – 10 Game Boards for the First 200 Words
  • Fry Word Plural Plays – Print and laminate the Fry noun word cards and place them at a center. (These words are nouns taken from the first 300 to 400 words on the Fry list.)  Students choose a card, write the word on the recording page and then make that word plural in the second column.
  • Fry Word Past Tense Plays – This is the same concept as the noun activity above except verbs have been chosen from the Fry list.  Students choose a verb card and then write the past tense of the verb in the second column.
  • Three Cheers for Super Sentences! – Print and laminate the word pair cards.  Students choose a card, read the two words and then write a sentence that contains both words.  Students are required to write sentences with at least six words and encouraged to add details.

  • What is Volleyball? – Informational Text Passage with Comprehension Questions and Facts & Opinion Organizer
  • SCORE with Synonyms! Word Puzzles  – Print and laminate the puzzle pieces. Cut apart and place them at a center. Students put together the synonym pairs. We have included a recording page in case you would like to students to write the pairs they find.
