Winter Verb Hunt

Use this Winter Verb Hunt set to build a little movement into your literacy centers.

winter verb hunt

This is another free resource for teachers from The Curriculum Corner.

Add this Winter Verb Hunt to your classroom collection of language activities.

Students need practice with conjugating verbs but this practice is not very engaging when it only involves completing worksheets. When creating this verb activity, our goal was to add some movement to your language time.

We have a few different ideas for how to use this set. You might think of new ways that work for your class as well!

There are two different sets of verb cards. One set contains a verb.

The other set contains a past, present and future tense verb set.

You can choose the set that meets the needs of your students best!

We have also provided a set of the verb cards with a white background for those needing to save on ink used when printing.

How to Use these Winter Verb Hunt Resources

Charades For this activity, supply your kids with the verb cards. Kids choose a card and show the action.

Show Me! To follow up with the charades activity, provide students with the page where students record the verb and then draw a picture to illustrate the verb.

Verb Hunt Choose the verb cards you will be using – those with just a verb listed or those with a verb listed in three tenses. You can differentiate this activity by using both and have students look for either the yellow or the blue cards depending on their needs.

  • Once you have chosen your verb cards, place them around the room. It is up to you if you would like this to make an easy or difficult hunt! Choose the cards that fit the needs of your students.
  • Students are given the recording page you choose. They they search the room for the verb cards to complete the activity.
