Help students more fully understand new vocabulary by thinking about the meanings of words in various ways. Use this as a “Word of the Week” activity with reading, science or social studies. You could choose very specific words or have students choose words they don’t understand from their reading. Be even more intentional by completing it together if/when confusing words come up in a read aloud or shared text. (You could assign different students/groups to find out each part and share with the class.) Be sure students understand how to use this resource by completing two or three examples together first.
