Word Sorts for Phonics Practice

by Jill & Cathy on May 12, 2012

Common Core RF.K.2, RF.1.2, RF.1.3, RF.2.3

The common core standards covered depend on the family and letters you choose to use.

This is a great literacy center activity that can be adapted to fit all level of learners.  Each sort has three categories.  Use two categories for beginning learners and three for children who are ready for a challenge.  Also available are recording sheets to help keep children on task.  We have included a sheet for two categories and three categories.  Choose the right one for each student.  Each word sort is designed on its own patterned background.  This makes for easy sorting when kids accidentally mix them up!

Love your word sorts – just wondering whether you have any more, specifically other ‘long vowel ‘ sounds , the different spelling of ‘er’ and ‘or’?
Thank you.

We’ll add it to our list! We’ll get to them as quickly as we can – our list is growing!

Thanks!
