What is elapsed time?

Elapsed time is the amount of time that passes from the beginning of an event to the end of the event.

It shows how much time goes by between one time and another time.

For example, if something starts at 2:00 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m., the elapsed time is one hour and 30 minutes.

How do you find elapsed time?

Do you understand what elapsed time is but need help calculating it?

Read below to help you calculate elapsed time.

To find the elapsed time, you are subtracting one time from another. However, this can require more complex thinking than a simple subtraction problem.

Let’s find the time that passes between 7:25 and 9:15.

To find the elapsed time, it can be easiest to count up to the nearest hour. If it is 7:25, it is 35 minutes to the nearest hour. You are now at 8:00.

Then, count the number of hours. Starting at 8:00, there is 1 hour to get to 9:00.

Next, from 9:00 to 9:15 is 15 minutes.

Now we just add those times together! We had 35 minutes, 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This will give you 1 hour and 50 minutes.

The time between 7:25 and 9:15 is 1 hour and 50 minutes.
