Friendship Tweet (Valentine’s Day)

Friendship Tweet for Valentine's Day or Team Building in the Classroom FREE from The Curriculum CornerWe know that not all schools celebrate Valentine’s Day.  With this in mind, we created an activity for older students that can be used on Valentine’s Day or any other time of year.  Students are often as familiar with different forms of social media as teachers, sometimes even more familiar than we are!  Plus, students in the intermediate grades might feel too old to exchange cards.   How about having them write a tweet to their classmates instead?  We created a page of forms for students to use to “Tweet” to their friends.  We envision students writing a positive message to each classmate and then handing these out instead of cards.  Or, they can be used as a friendship activity at the end of the school year.  Students can then end the year with a positive note from each classmate!  Remember when giving directions that Tweets should only be 140 characters.  Students will need to remember to count the spaces.  If your class needs help getting started, we suggest creating a list of good words to use on the board.  This can be a whole class activity.  We are thinking words such as friendly, helpful, caring, hardworking, creative, etc.
